No. I will not accept this! How could I possibly accept this?! This is DEMON'S SOULS FOR GOD'S SAKE. I can't. I won't. There are some things of which mortal man is simply not capable!

I mean, this is the game I've written so many articles on Demon's Souls that it's both ridiculous and annoying. Can't I put it to rest? Can't I put this game behind me as an instance of enormous hypocrisy and forget that the game ever existed?

Why!? Why and how does Demon's Souls appear on my top 15 favorite games list? I can answer that question, but the answer makes no sense. Try as I might, my mind hammers on the issue restlessly, unceasingly, but the answer denies all logic and reason.

Demon's Souls is a frustrating, obtuse, overly difficult, poorly-balanced nipple-twisting painfest of a game. No sane person could enjoy the punishment Demon's Souls try to dish out. But.

| GRAAA WHO DARES DISTURB THE DRAGON GOD? YOU, FOOLISH MORTAL, DARE TO PLAY DEMON'S SOULS? All right, then you're gonna need some advice. First, get the Purple Flame Shield ASAP, that thing's probably the best overall shield in the game. Then, get the Compound Longbow, and kill the Red Dragon on 1-2! After that, you can use the bow on the Tower Knight pretty easily (ect ect)... |
I just love it. I love hacking and slashing. I love backstabbing enemies, sniping them with arrows from afar, blasting them with magic. I love running around gothic fantasy dungeons, finding nifty items and gaining skills that let me destroy my foes. I love the visceral combat. I love how the whole game is "kill or be killed," and how intense every encounter is. The whole game is an emotional roller coaster, and despite hating so many things about it, I love the game so much.
This makes Demon's Souls the most unusual entry on my top 15 games list. The quality that allows it to be on this list is that I love it despite hating it. It's the most emotionally extreme game I've ever played.
I won't waste more ranting on it. I've talked too much about Demon's Souls already. It's just my favorite game that I absolutely loathe of all time.
